Ticket sales for Airwaves starts 14. september 2006 17:52 Rass Tónlist Iceland Airwaves Ticket sales to the Iceland Airwaves music festival starts Friday, September 15th. The 8th Airwaves festival takes place in the Reykjavik city centre from october 18th - 22nd and has never been bigger. In total around 180 artists, bands and djs will perform. The festival will take place at 7 venues: The Reykjavik Art Museum, Nasa, Gaukurinn, Þjóðleikhúskjallarinn, Pravda, Grand rokk and Iðnó. In addition informal concerts and events will take place at record stores and bars, at the Fríkirkjan Church and other places. Among the international acts appearing at this year‘s Airwaves are Kaiser Chiefs (UK), The Go! Team (UK), We are Scientists (UK), Wolf Parade (CAN) and Brazilian Girls (US). Other rising stars in the world of rock n roll are bands such as Metric (CAN), Love is All (SE), Jenny Wilson (SE), Cold War Kids (US), Islands (CAN), Mates of State (US), Tilly and the Wall (US) and Datarock (NO). As usual the Icelandic acts take up most of the schedule and showcases what is taking place in Icelandic rock, pop and indie music. Among local acts at this year‘s festival are Mugison, Mínus, Jakobínarína, Jeff Who?, Benni Hemm Hemm, Apparat Organ Quartet, Leaves, Hermigervill, Baggalútur and Pétur Ben. Tickets are sold in the form of bracelets that is valid to all shows as long as there is space. Ticket sales take place at the Skífan store on Laugavegur, Kringlan and Smáralind in Reykjavik, and at BT stores in Akureyri, Egilsstaðir and Selfoss. Price is 6.900 kronur. Last year the ticket sold out fast and organizers encourage people to be quick to get tickets.
