People of Airwaves: Playing the wingwoman By Kolbeinn Tumi Daðason 7. nóvember 2014 22:24 The upbeat Jill Casavant and Natalie Spaeth. V'isir/Andri Marínó The friends Jill Casavant and Natalie Spaeth from Atlanta, Georgia, are excited about the Iceland Airwaves festival. "Superexcited", says Jill. They were at the Harpa concert hall after they had only arrived this morning. When asked what brings them here Natalie quickly replies: "I wanted to see The Knife and I had never been to Iceland either." Jill also points out that it's her birthday. Natalie is ashamed for having forgotten about that fact, it's clear that the whole trip is a birthday present of sorts. Jill refuses to reveal to the reporter how young she is. "You're not 29?" asks the reporter which elicits a smile from Jill and responds: "29 it is!" Natalie claims to be a huge music nerd and knows her way around Icelandic music. Atlanta is teeming with music and it sees musicians come in from all over the world. They have a long list of bands to see, Natalie mentions FM Belfast, Tomas Barfod, Le Femme and For a Minor Reflection. She then starts mentioning great bands from Atlanta, like Deer Hunter and Black Lips. Jill is clearly as enthusiastic about music as Natalie, and confirms the reporter's suspicions that she is a wingwoman of sorts at the festival. Jill admits that she visits Iceland with an open mind and would love to meet interesting people and cute boys. Natalie is focused on the musical aspect of the festival and says that she only observes the boys from a distance. "If they want to come chat with me then they're free to do so," she says laughing.
